Student prizes
The following prizes are awarded to Northern Clinical School students and are presented at the Annual Prizes Evening in March each year.

The Graham Coupland Memorial Prize - $300
Set up in memory of Dr Graham Coupland, an outstanding surgeon at RNSH. Awarded to the student with the best overall performance in Clinical Studies in Med 2 & 3.
The Royal North Shore Medal - $300, Medal, and name on Honours Board
Selected by fellow graduating students as best exemplifying leadership, advocacy for students, peer support, and academic excellence. The medal is presented at the Annual Foundation Day Ceremony at RNSH.
The Geoff Hipwell Ophthalmology Award - $300
Awarded to a graduating student, on the basis of a report on a period of clinical or research work in ophthalmology, under the supervision or approval of a member of the Department of ophthalmology of the Royal North Shore Hospital. This would be undertaken during the elective term, or as part of an honours project. Students should contact the Department of Opthalmology at RNSH on 9926 7371 and ask for Dr Michael Branley, Dr Tim Roberts or Professor James Smith.
The Neurology Award - $300
Awarded to a graduating student, on the basis of a report on a period of clinical or research work in Neurology, under the supervision or approval of a member of the Department of Neurology of the Royal North Shore Hospital. This would be undertaken during the elective term, or as part of an honours project.
The Dr Ian Black Memorial Award - $1,500
Awarded to a final year Northern Clinical School medicine student for an outstanding original contribution to Cardiology, through their Elective Term Report or Honours Research Project Report, or a related presentation or publication.
Dermatology Award - $300
Awarded to a graduating student for the best performance in a dermatology exam, held in October each year.
Kuring-gai and District Medical Association Award - $300
Awarded to a graduating student from the Northern Clinical School who is judged to have prepared the best Elective Term report, as submitted to Sydney Medical School as part of the assessment of that term.
Eligible students are invited to submit their Elective Term report in printed form, including any graphics, to the by the end of August of their final year. The reports will be judged by the Chair of the KDMA and the Associate Dean of the Northern Clinical School.
The Fagan Memorial Award for Surgery - $300
Set up by Dr Kevin Fagan, clinical teacher at RNSH, to honour his father, James Fagan, 'whose sacrifices enabled him to achieve what he did'. Awarded to a graduating student for excellence in Year 3 & 4 Surgery.
Medical Staff Council Award - $300
Awarded to a graduating student for excellence in Year 3 & 4 Medicine.
